Site History

The site benefits from an existing planning permission (ref. 24/00509/FULL) for two Drive-Thru units which was implemented in March 2025. The principle of Drive-Thru development in this location is therefore established.

McDonald’s are however committed to delivering a development that is more fit for purpose and improves upon that permission by revising the scheme to include a single Drive-Thru restaurant.

We initially submitted an application for a single Drive-Thru restaurant in 2024; however, after careful consideration, we decided to withdraw this application to allow for further review and refinement. We are therefore now planning to resubmit our plans for the site, with a development that provides a better form of development, with improved pedestrian connectivity and landscaping.

Our Proposals  

The proposed development comprises a modern free-standing single-storey McDonald’s restaurant with a Drive-Thru lane.

Our proposals include: 

  • A new McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant, extending to approximately 309 sq.m
  • 35 car parking bays, including 3 EV charging bays and 3 accessible bays. 
  • Recycling and waste facilities across the site to encourage disposal of waste. 
  • New landscaping and boundary treatments that will enhance the visual appearance of the site and support biodiversity.
  • Provide an additional 100 local jobs in a range of full time and part time positions, in addition to the 490 already employed throughout Dundee.
