The restaurant will be accessible from the side road off Hazelwell Lane, rather than directly from Pershore Road, which will help with traffic flow along the Pershore Road. McDonald’s will also be developing a new footway along Hazelwell Lane for pedestrians.
32 car parking spaces, to include accessible bays and EV car charging points, will ensure adequate car parking is available next to the restaurant.
To reduce the impact on the road network and our neighbours, McDonald’s uses multi-temperature vehicles. This allows all the restaurant’s needs, including frozen, chilled, and other products, to be delivered in one trip, reducing the number of deliveries required. We expect the Hazelwell Lane restaurant will need three to four deliveries per week. Deliveries will occur in the car park and outside of peak hours to minimize disturbance.
Given the presence of other McDonald’s restaurants in Birmingham and this site’s location along a major road, most vehicle trips to the proposed restaurant are expected to be from vehicles already traveling on the road network.
All impacts on traffic will be thoroughly assessed in a Transport Statement, which will be part of the planning application to be considered by Birmingham City Council.
