Benefits
If approved, we will deliver a new and attractive McDonald’s restaurant for Ellon, to meet customer demand and introduce more choice to the local area.
Our latest economic impact report shows that McDonald’s contributes around £2 million into Aberdeenshire’s regional economy and £11million into the wider North East economy.
We also take great pride in sourcing local ingredients wherever possible. Scottish farmers in particular benefit from approximately £17 million worth of income each year for products such as seed potatoes, beef and milk.
In Scotland, McDonald’s and our franchisees have recently established the ‘McDonald’s in the Community’ foundation, donating thousands of pounds, raised via the carrier bag charge, to local charities. Recent beneficiaries include Neil’s Hugs Foundation, Kidney Kids Scotland, The Falkirk Foundation and St Andrew’s Hospice.
If approved, the new restaurant will generate approx. £50,000-£60,000 in business rates (per year) for Aberdeenshire Council to help fund key local services.
If approved, the new restaurant will deliver significant investment of around £4million into Ellon, helping support the local economic recovery from Covid-19.
If approved, the new restaurant will create around 100 new jobs in a range of full and part-time positions, in addition to the 800 already employed by McDonald’s across the North East and over 12,000 in Scotland.
